Obituary of Edna Holder
Mrs. Edna Maud Holder of 588 Route 880, Lower Millstream, NB passed away at Sussex Health Centre on April 9, 2004 at the age of 72. Born in Chipman NB on May 29, 1931, Edna was the daughter of the late Freeman and Velma (Webber) Thompson and the beloved wife of the late Herbert Charles Holder who passed away Dec.29, 2003. Edna is survived by 2 sons Freeman and his wife Lynn of Fredericton, Gregg and his wife Mary Lou of Lower Millstream, a special daughter, Barb Frits and her husband Donnie of Lower Millstream, 2 grand daughters; Stephanie and Rianna, 4 sisters; Pearl Mersereau of Fredericton Junction, Arthura MacBeth and her husband Robert of Chipman, Glenna Trail and her husband Basil of Chipman, Gail Ender and her husband Ron of Montreal, her brother Carl Thompson of Chipman, as well as several nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by 2 brothers Lester and Sterling. Edna worked 29 years at Kings County Memorial Hospital and Sussex Health Centre. At age 50 Edna went to college and a attained accreditation as a Food Service Supervisor ? a position she held until her retirement in 1996. Edna was a member of the Lower Millstream United Church, the UCW and a life member of the Women's Institute. She was a member of the Norton Legion # 76 Ladies Auxiliary, past Worthy Grand Mistress of the Provincial Ladies Orange Benevolent Association (LOBA), the Sussex Health Centre Auxiliary and corresponding secretary and member of the Sussex Health Centre Foundation Fund Raising Committee. Edna was the matriarch of the Holder Family. She organized and hosted several Holder Reunions, the most notable being the reunion of 1992. Her home was also opened to family, friend or stranger, all where welcome. A cup of tea, hot meal or a sympatric shoulder in times of trouble where given freely. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation with the family at Edna's home at 588 Route 880 Lower Millstream on Saturday 2-4, 7-9pm and Sunday 2-4 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Lower Millstream United Church on Monday April 12, 2004 at 11:00AM. Followed by the Interment at Wesley United Cemetery in Berwick. There will be a time of fellowship with the family at the Berwick Recreation Centre following the committal service. In Lieu of flowers donations made to the Sussex Health Centre Dialysis Fund would be appreciated by the family
