Obituary of Vera Susan Almira Anderson

Vera Susan Almira Mills was born on May 14, 1922 in Harper Settlement and was the daughter of Irvine and Agnes (Patterson) Mills. Vera was raised with her brother Clarence and sister Dorothy as well as her half brothers and sisters: Prudence, Martin, William, Blanche, George, Henry and Joseph. Vera met Everett when he would visit with the Church boys and Vera's brother Clarence. He took an interest in her and they began dating in 1938. They enjoyed sitting on the two-seated swing which was built by Vera's grandfather and this is where he put his wrist watch on her. This meant they were going steady. During that same year, Vera took a course in Sussex which taught her how to sew, bake, knit, weave and crochet. Vera boarded in Sussex and came home only two or three weekends during the course. She looked forward to the letters she received from Everett. Vera and Everett were married on October 21, 1942 in her parent's house and they were married for 34 years. They had a wonderful life and Vera missed him very much when he passed away in 1977. Vera loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed their visits and keeping up with their busy lives. She was proud of their success' and the lives they led. She will live on in their hearts forever. Vera had an incredible faith and was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church. She loved her Church Family and they loved her. Even with all the troubles with her health, she never waivered in her faith and looked forward to the day when she would be in the presence of the Lord. Vera will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Joyce Geldart of Saint John; her son Gary Anderson and his wife Rosalind of Salisbury; her grandchildren: Jill Gallant and her husband Jason and Luke Anderson and his wife Breanne; her great grandchildren: Eliza, Kayla, Jacob Gallant and Emma Anderson as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vera Susan Almira (Mills) Anderson, formerly of Knightville, passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on October 18, 2012. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, and is predeceased by six brothers: Clarence Mills, William Church, George Church, Henry Church, Joseph Church, Martin Church as well as an infant brother; three sisters: Dorothy Mills, Prudence McEwen and Blanche Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Saturday, October 20, from 6-8pm and Sunday, October 21, from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A Service celebrating Vera's life will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:00pm with Pastor Troy Campbell officiating. The Interment will take place in Gosline Cemetery, Knightville followed by a time of fellowship with the family in the Church basement. As an expression of sympathy donations made to the Calvary Pentecostal Church Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
