Obituary of Russell Nelson
Russell Nelson of 43 Wallace Court, Sussex passed away Jan. 10th. He had been in the Kiwanis Nursing Home for the past 4 years. He was born Oct. 22nd, 1916 in Lower Cape, Albert Co., NB, the son of the late George W. Nelson and the late Charlotte (Russell) Nelson. Russell was a stonecutter and quarryman by trade and with his family owned and operated Nelson Monuments Ltd. during his working career and was involved in the start up of Nelson Granite Limited in Vermilion Bay, Ontario. He was a lover of pets and an avid gardener. He belonged to Howard Masonic Lodge in Hillsborough. Russell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ferne E. Milton of Edgett's Landing. They have five children: Merrill (Dorothy) of Sussex, Gail Scovil of Sussex, Eric (Carole) of Sussex, Carter (Carolyn) of Vermilion Bay, Ontario,Garth (Allison) of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. They have seven grandchildren: Charlene MacKenzie, Eileen Nelson, Erica Nelson, Shannon Nelson Walsh, Nevin Nelson, Nichole Nelson, Karla Krassilowsky, and twelve great grandchildren, Jonathon MacKenzie, Katie and Tessa Walsh, Scott, Danielle and Ryan Nelson, Russell, Cara and Leah Balla, Kennedy, Mitchell and Shelby Krassilowsky. Russell was third of 10 children and is survived by two sisters, Marion Garvin of Riverview, Margaret (Wilfred) Drury of Sussex and two Brothers, Carl of Riverview and Bernard of Sussex. His sisters-in-law, Irma of Windsor, NS and Dorothy of Haines City, Florida. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, George Scovil, his sisters, Eleanor (Foster) Hendy of Hopewell Cape, Catherine (James) Preston of Windsor, NS and brothers G. Maurice of Windsor, NS, Harry (Joyce) of Windsor, NS and James of Haines City, Florida, his brother-in-law, Ed Garvin, his sister-in-law, Kay Nelson. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Monday 7-9, Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 . The Funeral Service will be from Sussex United Baptist Church, 28 Church Avenue, Sussex on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 2:00 pm. with Pastor David Keith of Riverside-Albert and Pastor Jeff Benson of Sussex officiating. Following the funeral there will be a time of fellowship with the family in the church hall. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park.
