Obituary of Frank Tokarz
Frank Tokarz was born in Chojnik, Poland on January 23, 1940 and was the son of Stanislaw and Karolina (Lazarz) Tokarz.
Frank lived with his grandmother as a child and grew up very poor. He graduated high school and attended college for a couple of years. His trade was a tool and dye maker machinist. At 18, Frank became a member of the Polish Armed Forces in the special task unit. After his stint in the Armed Forces, Frank went to Austria where he worked for a few years.
He also worked in Kuwait and Afghanistan as a tool and dye operator and high rigger. He came to Canada at the age of 42 and lived in Toronto where he Owned and operated his own Hotdog Stand. From there he relocated to Mount Pisgah where he operated a modest farm.
After selling the farm, Frank moved into the Kiwanis Apartments. This is where he met Judy Asseltine and they developed a mutually respectful relationship. They were great friends, doing everything together. Judy's family embraced him as one of their own.
Frank loved to read, going for long walks and swimming. He enjoyed cooking and the occasional psychic reading. He was a great man and he will be missed.
Frank will live on in the hearts of his family living in Poland, as well as his best friend Judy Asseltine of Sussex; her children: Connie McDermott and her husband Paul of Newtown, Debbie McGrath of Alberta, Cheryl Brown and her husband Andrew of Trenton, ON, Jim McGrath of Alberta, Ernie McGrath and his wife Jessica of Cherryvale; her grandchildren: Daniel, Damien, Jesse, Corey, Amanda, Amy, Alex, Kate, Meghan, Christopher and Kerin; her great grandchildren: Jacobi and Skyler of Alberta Chloe of Bellisle.
Mr. "Frank" Franciszek J. Tokarz of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on October 9, 2012 at the age of 72.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8.
A service celebrating Frank's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jim Hannah officiating.
There will be a time of fellowship immediately following the service.
