Mrs. Vera Mae Mercer, of Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, passed away at her residence, on November 25, 2003, at the age of 95. Born in Rockville NB on July 17, 1908, she was the daughter of the late John Turner and Julia Jane (Adair) Snyder and the beloved wife of the late James Emmerson Mercer who passed away in 1963. Vera is survived by her daughter Shirley MacCallum of New Castle, 2 sons Curtis and his wife Pat of Truro and Jack and his wife Paula Hill of Dartmouth, her sister Stella Arnold of Parlee Brook, 9 grandchildren, Paul, Steven, Susan, Terry, Malcolm, Matthew, Jane, Nancy, Tracy, 16 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her son, Harold, her daughters, daughters, Rowena and Carol, granddaughter, Peggy, her sisters, Blanche, Sybil, Elsie, her brothers, Harry, Royden, Warren. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Wednesday 7-9. The Funeral Service is from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Thursday, November 27, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Philip Dallimore officiating. The interment will be in Trinity Cemetery.
