Obituary of Gerald MacAuley

Mr. Gerald Delbert MacAuley, of Waterford, NB, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on November 1, 2003 at the age of 79 years. Born in Saint John New Brunswick on July 12, 1924, he was the son of the late Frederick and Anne (King Pitt) MacAuley and the beloved husband of the late Velma (Gregg) MacAuley who passed away in 2000. Gerald is survived by 3 daughters: Winnifred Vail of Hampstead, Maureen Martin and Michael Gallery of Saint John, and Wendy and her husband Vivian Rapson of Pickering, Ont., his son, Myles MacAuley and his companion Nettie Gailey of Millstream, 3 sisters, Lorna of Saint John, Joan Mortimer and her husband Joe of Saint John, Lois Best and her husband Douglas of Saint John, 13 Grandchildren, Phyllis, Lee, Lynn, Allan, Brenda, Anne, Brent, Jacqueline, Lisa, Geoffrey and their father David, Claire, Greig and Tanya. 22 Great Grandchildren, Brian, Robyn, Melody, Vanessa, Brandon, Jordan, Jonathan, Katie, James, Allen, Joel, Anthony, Corey, Tina, Jessie, Tyrell, Cole, Caleb, Ethan, Nicolle, Samantha, Mikayla. 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Jamaal and Marcus, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gerald MacAuley Gerald was predeceased by his sister, Marie, an infant sister, Lillian, and brothers, Thomas and Donald. Gerald was a retired painter/decorator. In his youth he was a former member of the Saint John boxing club. He served with the Royal Canadian Army during WWII. He attended St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Waterford and after his retirement he nurtured his many house plants, made pickles and jellies and became quite a gifted artist. He painted animals, wild life and stills on canvass, glass and ceramic. He loved to tell stories, fish and enjoyed all sports. Arrangements in care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Tuesday 7-9, Wednesday 2-4, 7-9. The Funeral Service is from St. John Evangelist Anglican Church on Thursday, November 6, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Allen Tapley officiating, with the interment following in the Church Cemetery.
