Obituary of Nelson Robinson

Mr. Nelson Burton Robinson, of Springdale, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on October 30, 2003, at the age of 87. Nelson was born in Niggerbrook, South Branch, NB on November 8, 1915, he was the son of the late James and Catherine (McGarrigle) Robinson. Nelson is survived by his beloved wife Rose (Simpson), his children: Stanley and Georgina of Ontario, Roberta Comeau of Ontario, Tommie and Ann of Millbrook, Cathy Pascoe and Scott of Sussex, Jimmie and Jodie of Minto, Charles and Angela of Sussex, Eliza Robinson of Saint John, his sister, Flossie Powell of Sussex, 19 grandchildren: Allen, Audrey, Sheila, Brent, Kim, Lori, Dale, Jonathan, Jessica, Daniel, Allen, Devan, Tyler, Brittany, Dillian, Debbie, David, Kelly, Gina, 10 great grandchildren: Gregory, Brent, Craig, Luke, Morgan, Jennifer, Stephen, William, Amy and Katie, as well as several nieces and nephews. Nelson was predeceased by his first wife, Geneva (McLong) Robinson, an infant son John Robinson, 4 sisters, Adelia, Kathleen, Winnifred and Frances, 7 brothers, Chester, William, George, James, Harry, Warren and Charles. Nelson worked hard as a blacksmith, truck driver, woodsman, as well on his small farms. Nelson often built his own wagons and sleds. He worked with horses a lot. He could easily be found at the livestock auctions on Wednesdays in Sussex. He enjoyed telling stories and hearing others talk about when they were young. Nelson was often nicknamed "Smiley". He was also remembered by others for his firm and strong handshake. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Saturday 2-4, 7-9. The Funeral Service is from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Sunday, November 2 2003 at 2:00 pm with Captains Donald and Sandra Rowsell officiating. Interment at Pioneer Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Living Memorial.
