Obituary of Alvin Gerome Mallory
Alvin was born in Poodiac on September 19, 1938 and was the son of Cecil and Ethel (Matthews) Mallory.
He attended school in Poodiac along with his brothers and sisters. As a young man, he was a member of the reserve army in Sussex for about five years. Alvin married Alice McKay on September 3, 1960 and went on to have two sons: Paul and Stephen. When Alvin and Alice were first married, they lived on Park Street and eventually built homes in Wards Creek and Dutch Valley.
Alvin retired in 2000 after working as a carpenter with MMH. He had also worked for Ken Brown as a farm hand and as a carpenter for Banner Building Supplies, Lutz & Bickford and Smith & Teakles. He was an active member of the Beaconsfield LOL #78; working at the lodge suppers and other functions.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and keeping up on the activities of his four grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was always willing to help the "other fellow" if he needed a hand.
Alvin will be lovingly remembered by Alice (McKay), his beloved wife of 52 years; his sons: Stephen and his wife Wendy and Paul and his wife Andrea all of Berwick; five brothers: Reynold and his wife Mona of Apohaqui, Gerald and his wife Gladys of Newline Rd, Willard and his wife Norma of Sussex Corner; Raymond and his wife Anne of Poodiac; Donald and his wife Joan of Cumberland Rd; two sisters: Shirley Goddard of Sussex Corner and Glenna Mallory and Jack Beers of Moncton; four grandchildren: Morgane, Thane, Stephanie and Darci, as well as several nieces and nephews.
