Dr. Leslie E. McQuinn , DVM, of 597 Back Road, Penobsquis, NB, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on September 18, 2003 at the age of 81. Born in Penobsquis, NB on October 14, 1921, Les was the son of the late Heber and Marie (Branscombe) McQuinn and the cherished husband of the late Mary Alice (Atkinson) McQuinn who passed away on April 14, 2003. Les is survived by 5 children: Doug and his wife Glenys of Quispamsis, Ruth McQuinn of Saint John, Lorna Balemans and her husband Bill of Saint John, David and his wife Colleen of Picadilly, Rev. Don and his wife Lois of Outlook, Saskatchewan, his brother, Burton McQuinn and his wife Jayne of Penobsquis, his sister Pearl DeLong and her husband Gordon of Sussex Corner, his brother-in-law, Bruce Atkinson and his wife Carolyn and 2 sisters-in-law: Phyllis and Marjorie Atkinson all of Fredericton, 13 grandchildren: Tracy, Aaron, Justin, Lisa, Amy, Carrie, Vivian, Billy, Christopher, Ocean-Leigh, Adena, Pastor Mitchell and his wife Stephanie and Victoria, 3 great-grandchildren, Erin, Kevin and Stephanie as well as several nieces and nephews. Leslie E. McQuinn Les was a retired Veterinarian and a member of St. Paul's United Church. Les will always be remembered and beloved for his devotion to his family, church and community. He touched many through his work as a country vet, his interest in the youth of St. Paul's United Church, and his quiet but powerful leadership. He loved Alice with a love beyond compare. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Saturday 2-4, 7-9, Sunday 2-4, 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Monday, September 22, 2003 at 11:00 am with the interment to follow at Kirk Hill Cemetery.
