Anna Mason

Obituary of Anna Mason

Mrs. Anna Jean Mason, of Sussex Corner, N.B., passed away at Sussex Health Centre on April 3, 2003. Born in Sussex N.B. on January 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Percy E. and Ethel B. (Sears) Radcliffe and the beloved wife of the late Reginald M. Mason who passed away in 1996. Anna is survived by her daughter Debbie Matthew of Sussex, her sister Myrna Ladouceur and her husband Pete of Victoria BC; 4 grandchildren, Eric of Moncton, Jason and his wife Jill of Berry Mills, Michael and his wife Wendy of Picadilly, Cheryl Matthews and Dan Beaudette of Winnipeg; 6 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler, Jordan, Jasmin, Matthew and Braedan, several nieces and nephews. Anna was a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother and had a hand in shaping all of our lives. She valued her place in both the Radcliffe and Mason families. She was always very organized and knew every member of the family's birthday, wedding anniversary, death date and what new baby belongs to whom and never forgot to send a birthday card. Anna loved to reflect upon her life and tell stories. She had many stories and loved to talk about her youth during the war. She had loved attending dances where she always mentioned the men were a plenty, but only one man caught her interest and heart and that was Reg. Anna always spoke her mind and was a woman of great conviction who had a gift for communication, which was rarely subtle. Her home was always filled with things that she made or cooked herself. She was a woman who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She often talked about working at Barbour Foods and the many friendships she made there. After Reg passed away, Anna was lost for a time and missed him terribly but with time and the support of her family and friends she learned to embrace life again and looked for fun things to keep her busy such as traveling, line dancing, sewing, quilting, attending the meetings of the Pythian Sisters, Korean War Vets, the Royal Canadian Legion, as well as weekender and tupperware parties. She especially enjoyed any opportunity to get dressed up and socialize. How she loved to dress up and wear flamboyant colors, jewelry, and shoes. Anna was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20, a member of the Pythian Sisters #22 Prince Edward Temple and a former member of the Princess Louise 8th Hussars Militia.
