Obituary of Helen Proctor
Mrs. Helen K. Proctor, of 44 Wallace Court, Sussex, NB, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on March 24, 2003. Born in Jefferies Corner NB on July 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Margaret Augusta (Armstrong) Bowland and the beloved wife of the late George H. Proctor who passed away in 1993. Helen is survived by her daughter Sherrill Proctor and her husband Peter Poirier of Moncton, 2 sons, David and his wife Carolyn of Riverview, George and his wife Debbie Spencer of Fredericton, her sister, Freda Quick of Moncton, 2 grandchildren: Bradley and Matthew, several nieces and nephews Helen was an employee of S & G Store in the Mercantile Block, Main Street, Sussex. She was a member of St. Marks Anglican Church, a former member of the All Saints Anglican Church where she also was a member of the WI. Helen lived and attended school at Jefferies Corner and was a graduate Sussex Composite High School in 1933. She worked along side of her husband George H. Proctor in the lumber camps, as a cook after their marriage in 1939. Later, they purchased and worked a farm in Jefferies Corner. She was a long term employee of the S&G dry goods store on Main Street in Sussex. Helen loved to cook, and entertain family and friends. She enjoyed her Saturday Night card parties, needlework, quilting, crocheting and knitting. It was almost as much fun for her to teach her craft as it was for her to work on the project itself. Her faith was a very important part of her life and was the cornerstone of her family. She was a member of St. Marks Anglican Church and a former member of the All Saints Anglican Church where she also was a member of the Women's Institute. Arrangements in care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Wednesday 2-4, 7-9. Funeral Service is from St. Mark's Anglican Church on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Allen Tapley officiating. Interment will take place at Trinity Cemetery in the spring. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to All Saint Church Anglican Church, Jefferies Corner or to the memorial of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
