Obituary of Vernon Edgar Robinson
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Vernon Edgar Robinson of Long Creek who passed away August 29, 2012 at the Sussex Health Center.
Vern was born on March 18, 1933 and was the son of James and Margaret (Clements) Robinson.
Vernon grew up with his three sisters: Phyllis, Kate and Agnes in a home filled with love and faith. His three sisters loved him deeply and he loved them in return. Life was not always easy growing up but they always had each other.
Vernon loved being outdoors whether it was walking through the woods or being at the brook. He loved flowers; he and Jo-Ann had many beautiful flower beds throughout the years. They worked days on end to make their yard beautiful and it always was.
Vernon and Jo-Ann were married on July 28, 1971. After Steven was born, they were inseparable as a family and remained very close throughout the years. Vernon was also a very special uncle to several nieces and nephews and they will miss him dearly.
Besides gardening, Vernon loved to read, especially any literature involving WWII. His greatest passion was music and listening to Hank Snow and Wilf Carter, strumming along on his guitar. Hank Snow was his favorite and he knew all of his songs.
Family was first for Vernon. He loved Jo-Ann and Steven unconditionally and completely. He was a kind, sensitive and loving husband, father and uncle who will be forever in our hearts. We will never forget seeing him sitting by the wood stove with a cup of tea and a piece of bread.
"You will be missed"
Vernon will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Jo-Ann (Rankin); his son Steven Robinson (Beverly) of Long Creek; his brother in law Roger Ermen of Petitcodiac; nieces Joan Mallory and her husband Donald, Mona Mallory and her husband Reynold, Lois Carr and her husband Peter, Joyce Virtue and her husband Wayne, Faye Monahan and her husband Frank, Karen Kilpatrick and her husband Phillip, Nancy Crofcheck and her husband Mark and Carol Layden and her husband Terry; nephews Ronald McShane and Rose Brighton and James Ermen as well as several great and great great nieces and nephews.
Vernon is predeceased by his sisters: Phyllis McShane, Kate Robinson and Agnes Ermen and his infant brother Frankie.
Jo-Ann, Steven and all of Vernon's family would like to thank Dr. Green, Dr. McNeil, Dr. Sullivan and all of the nurses who cared for Vern for the care and comfort he received. We appreciate all that was done to help us at this difficult time.
