Obituary of James Seely
Mr. James Spencer (Penny) Seely, of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on March 17, 2003. Born in Sussex on August 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Harry and Ethel (Adair) Seely. Penny was predeceased by his first wife Ethel (nee-Starkey) in 1988 and by his second wife Mary (nee-McFarlane) who passed away in 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Carter and her husband Bill of Moncton, his son, Jack Seely of Moncton, 2 step-daughters, Edith Robinson and her husband Ralph of Wards Creek, Velma Ratkowski and her husband Clarence of Hamilton, Ontario, 3 step-sons, Leon and his wife Marilyn of Saint John, Gordon and his wife Eileen of Sussex, Eldon and his wife Pat of Wards Creek, his step-daughter-in-law, Gloria Hayward of Sussex, 2 sisters Marge DeForest and her husband Clarence of Salisbury, Doreen Dunfield and her husband Havie of Sussex, his brother Doug and his wife Yvette of Fredericton, 21 grandchildren, Matthew Carter, Marla LeBlanc, Sharon Henry, Stephen Hayward, John Hayward, Andrew Hayward, Cyndi Campbell, Kathy Picken, Terry Ratkowski, Peter Hayward, Jennifer Hayward, Joey Hayward, Tony Hayward, Kirk Hayward, Holly Hayward, Michael Hayward, Robert Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Loretta Matthews, Theresa Cowie and Deboraha Hayward, 33 great grandchildren, Jaimie, Quinton, Kelsey, Karly, Erica, John, Tristin, Levi, Jesse, Nicholas, Tyler, Brittany, Adam, Ryan, Justin, Christian, Andrea, Aaron, Amanda, Cody, Liam, Caleb, Meagan, Lucas, Jillian, Kristan, Kale, Kole, Kayden, Aaron, Catlin, Jenna, Adam, several nieces and nephews. Penny was predeceased by 2 brothers Lloyd and Fred, 2 sisters Dorothy Fanjoy and Audrey Loughery, a stepson, Lawrence. Penny served overseas with the Carleton York Regiment during WWII in the Canadian Army. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20, and the Sussex Kiwanis Club. Penny retired from Royal Pontiac after 30 years service. Arrangements in care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Tuesday 7-9,pm Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 pm. Funeral Service is from St. Paul's United Church on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 2:00 pm. Interment at Trinity Cemetery in the spring. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation or to the memorial of the Donor's choice. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 will hold a tribute on Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm.
