My greatest memories with grampie were when i went up to his house and went to the shop with him. You could never get grampie out of there, that was were grampie spent long hours just fiddling around with trucks. I remember one day I went up there and we went out to the shop because grampie was rebuilding a truck so I helped him. I loved it when every christmas morning I could wake up real early open my presents at home and go to grampies to watch him open his. I remember the days when grampie was laughing and smiling at all the kids on christmas and thanksgiving. I loved seeing grampie on any day of the week, he was a good man who never wanted to let go. Im proud to call grampie my grampie. I hope he knows where every he is that everyone loves him very much. I miss you grampie and hope you know that you'll always be in my heart. Im going to be thinking of you at gratuation next year and when ever I get married, and I know that where ever I am you'll be right next to me every step I take and every choose I make in life, you'll always be with me. R.I.P grampie, I will miss you. <3

My memory of Grampie starts at the beginning of this year. What started out as trying to clean up and organize the shop turned into the best bonding experience I would ever have with my grandfather. To anyone that knows the shop, unorganized chaos might come to mind and cleaning it was a bonding experience on its own. We moved things around and out of the way to make room for the back hoe and this is where our bonding really began. Taking the back hoe apart, trying to fix it and putting it back together again. This was and always be an important and special part of my life. It was not only quality time with Grampie, but it gave me an opportunity to see what I missed with my own father. In life you always think there is enough time to say and do all the things that need to be done; but in so many cases it is always taken for granted and so many things may get left unfinished. My grandfather gave me a special gift and never even realized it. He gave me a second chance, a chance to fulfil some of my unfinished business with my Dad through him. I've learned a lot of valuable lessons through my life and would like to share a few. From my father and his orange stocking hat; a person shouldn't be defined by the clothes and items they possess but by trying to be a good person and happy with who they are, to appreciate what they have.
From my grandfather: that when you get older and your body doesn't want to work the same way it should, slowing down and taking it easy is highly over rated. Instead, become more creative to get the job done. Also, no matter the abundance of patience Grampie had with me, I will never become a mechanic.
Thank you for your hugs and laughs, for the never ending patience, understanding, love and support. Most importantly, thank you and Grammie Pat for making my Dad as special as he was and giving him to me!

As I watched the beautiful sunrise this morning I was saddened by the thought that this is Floyd's favourite time of day and he is missing it. Then I was comforted by the realization that he really isn't missing it at all, he is simply seeing it from a different perspective now and has Pat at his side to enjoy it with him.
