Obituary of Floyd Peterson

Floyd was born is Weaver Siding, Northumberland County, NB. Floyd grew up in the Protestant Orphanage in Saint John, never to know who his family was. Floyd came to Sussex and in 1980 went to live with Linda and her family. He found more than a place to live, he found a family. He used to hold Donna when she was a baby and loved spending time with them. He thought very highly of Linda and would always say "If it wasn't for Linda, I wouldn't be here now". When Floyd went in the hospital last year with pneumonia, everyone pitched in and helped take care of Floyd, including Presten, Shawn, Justin, Josh, Summer and Taylor. Floyd went to work at Barbour's. He lived just across the field so he would walk to work. One Sunday morning, after a couple of drinks the night before, Floyd went across the field to go to work. Soon he was back and couldn't imagine why no one was there. Even he thought it was funny when he was told it wasn't Monday. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. Floyd had many sayings he was known for. He would say, "Good golly be, I thought I saw a bumble bee, the gobbler chased the rooster out of sight or eat up, fill up and grow up". One night Floyd didn't show up at home and Linda was quite concerned about him. Soon, the town police called and said that he had one too many so he was going to stay at the station for awhile and the little dog Midget would be staying there as well. Floyd was well known in the town of Sussex. He was never alone as he always had a little dog with him. He loved his little dogs and they loved him. Midget was his first dog and he spoiled him. Midget got so chubby that he would not cross the crosswalk. He would sit and wait for Floyd to carry him across and then he would walk. His dog Lucky liked to get outside and Floyd worried about him getting hit. If it was a cold day, Floyd would leave him home but he managed to get out and chase after him. There were times that Lucky would get downtown before Floyd did. When Floyd found out he had diabetes the doctor told him he couldn't drink with the medication he was being given. He never drank from that day on and had beer that stayed in the fridge for years. Floyd will be missed by his chosen family as well as the town of Sussex. May he rest in peace. "I declare, I thought I saw a polar bear" Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside Dr. Sussex, (506) 433-1176. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:00am in the Kirk Hill Cemetery to celebrate and honour Floyd. All are welcome to attend.
