Obituary of Reginald Peters

Reg Peters was born in Hope River, PEI on February 21, 1942 and was the son of the late Henry and Evangeline (Gallant) Peters. As a youth Reg worked for: Handy and Harman, Sussex Poultry, Barbour Foods, Sussex Sawmill, and Green Gables store in PEI. He was a painter and a baker; he also was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, a third degree Knight of Columbus, a member and past Grand Knight of Council #8213 Knights of Columbus, a member of the Silverado Friendship Group and a friend of Bill W's for over 39 years. In early years he was very active in coaching minor baseball and refereed minor hockey and umpired minor baseball. Reg was was named "Volunteer of the Year" for minor hockey. He loved music and dancing; his favorite piece was Saint Ann's Reel. Reg will live on in the hearts of Jean (Crannie), his beloved wife of 38 years; his step-daughter, Angela Jardine and her husband Darren of Dieppe; his step-son, Larry Northrup and his wife Debbie of NS; his grandchildren Brentha Prosser and her husband Jeff of Hampton, and Melanie Wilson of Dartmouth; his great granddaughter Carigan; his brothers: Ron of Charlottetown, PEI, Edwin and his wife Norma of Brampton, ON, Vernon of Charlottetown, PEI, Gerrard and his wife Linda of NFLD, Doug and his wife Vera of Oshawa, David and his wife Janet of Alberta, Norbie and his wife Dorothy of Kensington, PEI, Roy and his wife Angela of Little Brittan, ON, Ricky of Edmonton, and John and his wife Franny of Summerside, PEI; his sisters: Lori Dunn and her husband John of Red Deer, Gloria Walsh and her husband Earl of North Rustico, PEI and Marilyn Thorpe and her friend Peter of Oshawa; his sister-in-law, Suzanne Peters of Charlottetown, PEI; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Reginald Peters of Sussex, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 13, 2013 at the age of 71. He is predeceased by his brother Eric and an infant brother and sister at birth. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Thursday, October 17th from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Friday, October 18th at 10:00am. The interment will take place at Wards Creek Cemetery.
