Thinking of Marion this Christmas season and the friendship we shared working together for many years. Marion was a special friend in my life and I think of all the fun laughs we shared together. I love this picture of Marion as it expresses exactly who she was and the way she was always with a smile to share. You could always find us at each other's cubicles laughing together and we regularly went to lunch with each other. Marion always had a smile to share to cheer up even the hardest of work days and always was an encouragement. She was always excited to tell stories of the neat things that were going on with her children, her husband and grand children and to share pictures and loved her camp and the fun times she spent with family there. You could tell how much she loved them by how she lit up each time she spoke of them. Marion and I hung out at break time, lunch time and outside of the office. Where one of us was, you could always seem to find the other. She was truly not only a friend but a mother figure to those guys in her department that she worked for. They would come to her not only with work issues to be solved but they would share their personal struggles with her and she was someone who was always there with a caring, listening ear no matter how busy she was. She was a friend who was loyal and who you were proud to say was your friend. You could always count on her to be there for you. I struggled when Marion got sick and her memory slowly left her because she always had such a sharp mind and a quick wit. She was funny, yet in a quiet sort of way and never liked attention, I guess that is why we became such close friends because we both shared that in common. I can remember when she retired, she was nervous about having a party because she didn't want to ever be the center of attention and she asked me if I would sit with her at her retirement dinner so she would not feel so nervous. That was a real honor for me. I think often of our friendship and am blessed to have known her and to have the gift of her friendship in my life for so many years. Wish she was still here to call and visit but know she is up in heaven now at peace and rest and I know we will be laughing and hanging out together again someday.
