Bill came to the Men's Little International at Belfast Curling Club(Maine) for the first time in Feb.1977.He traveled with Glen Carr, Frank Duke ,and Frank Smith, and played the mate stones. This was my 3rd season of curling at Belfast Curling. He presented about the way he appears in the family photo(#5) at that time. I enjoyed meeting him and found him to be a true gentleman on and off the ice. As Glen and the 2 Franks aged the Sussex CC banner was Bill's to carry which he did gladly for several years and we became better friends. He introduced new players to the journey to Belfast,including his close friend Dave Drury who eventually carried the torch for Sussex CC when we received the sad news of Bill's diagnosis of cancer. Though Bill never returned to Belfast, Dave kept me informed of the perseverance of Bill until I was fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of that young master Jeffrey Stewart in the photo while representing Belfast Curling Club at the Riverboat Bonspiel(he had grown a little taller by then).It pleases me very much to know this member of the family and can certainly say that the apple has fallen directly under the tree.I know Bill's presence will be missed greatly by his family, friends and the Sussex community. He may have lost his last game but he won a great many along the way. My condolences to you and your family Jeff. My thoughts are with you today while I tee it up at Belgrade G C.; we have to keep the games going as your Dad would wish us to do.

To Eva and Bill's family. Both Deb and I are so very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We will always remember the special friendship between both Eva and Bill and Mom and Dad. I remember the first time I met Bill, it was 1977 I was living in Chatam and about 10:30 at night had a knock on the door and there stood Dad (Frank) and Bill.. They were there for a curling bonsfield with Gordie Bickerton. It was freezing cold out but they convinced me that the cold air was good for me and away we went to the curling rink. Those guys always had a good time and we had lots of laughs that weekend. Bill was the quiet one. of the bunch but always smiling and laughing along with them. He was a nice man and I know you will miss him terribly so hold on to all your wonderful memories together to help you thru this sad time.

We lose another fine man. Eva, I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was so faithful at all our meeting and tours, etc. He could be counted on to be there. Our last memory of Bill was at the Sugar Bush when Dale nearly upset the table rushing out to help Bill get out of his vehicle.
