Obituary of Glenna Perry

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Glenna Marie Perry of Coles Island, who passed away on September 2nd, 2014 at the Saint John Regional. Born on July 27, 1946 in Chipman, Glenna was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Chase) Bishop and the wife of the late Donald Perry who passed away in 2008. Glenna carried the weight of Love and Care and Compassion for her parents during their wonderful years of good health. She then stepped up to the plate to be a great caregiver first when her father was ill and then even more so when her mother was ill for so many months. Glenna worked at the Sussex Health Center for several years and loved to see a steady stream of visitors in the cafeteria where her delicious food was always served. It was the same in her home. Cooking was her joy and delivering the fruits of her labour to others. Glenna was very involved in her community. She always thought of others and put their needs ahead of her own. She was very attentive to those who were ill or in hospital, making herself available to visit folks in times of need. She made herself useful and helpful in any way she could. Glenna's greatest love was to her family. Allan was the light in her life and she was so proud of him and the man he had become. She loved seeing Allan and Nila come to visit and especially looked forward to seeing Matthew and Logan. The stars were always just over the heads of those two boys as she loved them dearly. These grandsons never could they do wrong; nor did they do wrong. Glenna lost Don in 2008 and missed him desperately. They were a team and did everything together. They worked in the gardens and they were very generous by sharing the crops with anyone who wanted them. Glenna was always there if Donald got stuck somewhere, he called Glenna to come push or pull…and she did! If the deck needed repair Glenna hammered nails, she helped operate the wood splitter, as well as loved to make pickles and going to auctions. She and Donald found many treasures throughout the years going to auctions. She knew the story about every piece she bought and loved to tell it. Glenna was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many and she will be missed. She is now in a wonderful place where there is no pain. For this we are truly grateful. Glenna was a Christian with a solid faith and a firm belief. We now focus on being thankful for her Life, her Laugh, her Positive Words, her Love towards all that she knew. Care, Love, Understanding and Encouragement are all Hallmarks of this special person. The homemade rolls and biscuits, that extra slice of pie, we will all miss that special touch. This grade eight graduate, who walked into the world, not to ask why but to say "I can help". The phone calls stop ringing; yet the voice is there with us. We, all of us collectively, say "Farewell for now Glenna, until we meet again". God be with you as the New Journey has just begun. Rest in peace and wait a little longer at the gate; we are all just behind you. Glenna will be lovingly remembered by her son, Allan and his wife Nila of Hampton; her grandsons: Matthew and Logan; her sister Phyllis Brown of Chipman; her brothers Raymond Bishop and his wife Edith of St. Andrews and Vernon Bishop and his wife Ella of Chipman as well as several nieces and nephews. Glenna is predeceased by her sister Marion and her brother Cecil. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506) 433-1176, where visitation will be held on Friday, September 5th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A celebration of Glenna's life will be held from the Wallace Community Chapel on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 10:30am. There will be an opportunity to speak with the family at the Grand Washademoak Lions Den following the interment at the Coles Island Cemetery. If you are considering making a donation in Glenna's memory, the family has recommended the People's Serenity Garden, The Grand Washademoak Lions Den or the Coles Island Cemetery. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
