Obituary of Isabella Theresa Tabor
Isabella was born into a farming family at home in Plumweseep on August 23, 1936; with the help of a neighbor who acted as a midwife. She was the daughter of the late Harry Cummings of Vinegar Hill and Ethel Inez Wheaton of Newtown.
In 1942, Isabella attended Plumweseep School in grade 1 and continued to grade 8. In grade 9, she continued her education at Sussex High School, which was a 6 mile walk each way.
Once she was finished school, she worked at a few different places including the Colonial Home in Sussex Corner, for Mrs. John Ross at Wallace Funeral Home, and at the local laundry mat.
In 1962, she married Russell and they lived for a short time in Plumweseep, before moving to Hillsdale. Isabella helped care for her father-in-law John and uncle George Cummings toward the ends of their lives.
Russell and Isabella had four children. Bernie was born in 1963, Bryant in 1966, Janet in 1968 and Edward in 1972.
Isabella worked hard at home, raising her children and working around their small farm, even splitting wood by hand. She loved to cook and knit. She made mitts, socks, and sweaters, which her children and grandchildren enjoyed.
Isabella happily watched her children grow into adults and have families of their own. Bernie and Sandra married in 1987, Bryant and Bonny married in 1990, Janet and William married in 1998.
Isabella will live on in the hearts of Russell her beloved husband of almost 55 years; her daughter, Janet Gregg and her husband William of Knightville; three sons: Bernie and his wife Sandra of Apohaqui, Bryant and his wife Bonnie of Apohaqui and Edward of Hillsdale; two sisters: Mary Tabor and her husband Warren of Hillsdale and Cassie Cummings, two brothers: John and Joe Cummings all of Plumweseep; her sister-in-law, Freda Cummings of BC; seven grandchildren: Katelyn Tabor and Leon Horton of England, Michelle Tabor of Apohaqui, Michael Tabor and his wife Brittany of Fredericton, Samantha and Trevor Tabor of Apohaqui, Ashlee Gregg of Sussex and Jenna Gregg of Sussex; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Isabella Theresa Tabor of Hillsdale passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on March 12, 2015 at the age of 78. She is predeceased by her infant sister, Annie and her brothers: Fred and Ernest Cummings.
