Obituary of Constable Derek John Danells

Derek John was born in Saint John on September 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard John and Lillian Eva (Campbell) Danells and husband of the late Carol (Cormier) Danells who passed away in 2009. Derek will be lovingly remembered by his children:Tammy Mersereau and her husband Shawn of Moncton, Ann Northrup and her husband Evans of Penobsquis, and his five favorite people, his grandchildren: Ashley Mersereau and Jacob Mersereau, Marshall Hayes and Marybeth Hayes, and Maggie Northrup.; his sisters Lillian Mackin and her husband Bernie of East Saint John, Faye Pegg of Vancouver; Fred Danells and his wife Leslie of Richmond BC, Bob Danells of Rothesay. He also has some special sisters-in-law who were close to his heart. Mary Gibbon of Saint John, Shirley Hanson and her husband Ralph of Gondola Point, Janet MacMillan of Saint John, and Bonnie Snodgrass and her husband David of Saint John; as well as many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Lynn Aiton. Derek was predeceased by his loving wife Carol of 43 years, who left us too soon in September of 2009. Also predeceased by a sister Barbara Von Richter, and her husband Ivan Von Richter; his brothers Richard (Joe) Danells and Donald Danells; his brothers-in-law: Doug Cormier and Leonard Gibbon. Derek Danells of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on December 28, 2015 at the age of 68. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on December 31st, 2015 from 12-5pm . A service celebrating Const. Danells’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, January 1st, 2016 at 2:00pm.
