Lindsay Ingersoll

Life Story of Lindsay Ingersoll

Lindsay was born in Sussex, June 5,1979 and is the daughter of Pastor Don and Janet (Ryder) Ingersoll. Lindsay was a Public School Teacher in Fort McMurray, Alberta and a member of Kings Valley Wesleyan Church in Quispamsis and McMurray Gospel Assembly in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Lindsay will live on in the hearts of her parents; her brother, Brad Ingersoll and his wife Rachel of Sussex; her precious niece, Cailyn; her adorable nephew, Colton; her maternal grandmother, Myrtle Ryder of Moncton and her paternal grandmother, Kathleen Ingersoll of Fredericton; as well as a dearly loved family, including; her aunts: Shirley DeMerchant and her husband Ross and Joanne LeRoy and her husband David; her uncle, Doug and his wife Karen; and many cousins and their families. Most of Lindsay's formative experiences as a child and a teenager were in the context of her church at Kings Valley Wesleyan and her beloved Caton's Island and Beulah Camp. She delighted in being fully immersed in every activity, project, concert or outing that the children's ministry or youth group did. Her summers on the Saint John River were wonderful, and vacations found Lindsay, Brad and her parents either at the cottage with the Ingersoll clan, or at the camp with the Ryder family. They tented, skied, fished, four wheeled and travelled a lot. Her wonderful time at Beulah and Catons instilled in her a love for the Lord and for children. Along with her parents, music was her life during those years, playing in the school band, serving on the worship team, singing and performing in the seasonal productions both at school and at the church. Her comedic roles are memorable even today. She became someone who loved and contributed to the ministry of her church. During her two years at Bethany Bible College (Kingswood University) in Sussex, Lindsay continued to build wonderful relationships with people who would become life long friends, as she attended classes, travelled with the music teams, a mission to Czech Republic, and tried to be at the centre of everything fun happening on campus. She then transferred to UNBSJ as a Biology major. During these years a group of new acquaintances came in to her life who would become precious friends...friends who would step powerfully into her life to strengthen and encourage her when she faced her biggest challenge. Backpacking through Europe more than once, she was never happier than when heading off on some great adventure. University of Maine then followed, as Lindsay set up her first apartment and prepared for a career in Education. This eventually led her to accept a northern teaching job in Alberta. As her Mom and Dad helped her cram all her earthly goods in her new Mazda, she and her beloved compatriot, Sarah Garnett, headed out for Fort McMurray. Eight years of teaching a variety of grades there found her firmly established. She loved her little apartment downtown, she delighted in her wonderful friends, she performed with community theatre, played flute in the band, and soccer on a team. She grew more in love with Christ under the nurture and love of the Fort McMurray Gospel Assembly and the Verge young adult group, where she loved being on the worship team. She continued her travels to the places she had dreamed of seeing. Summers were spent travelling abroad or on the boat with her family back in New Brunswick. Christmas break was a highly anticipated flight back to Moncton to lavish her love on her family, her Grammies and her precious Colton and Cailyn. Christmas 2015 was to be different though. Airlifted to Edmonton the last day of October, she stepped into the fight of her life as she began treatment for AML. One month in the hospital there, and four more monthly rounds of chemo in New Brunswick followed. With her family and closest comrades by her side, and her friends from afar cheering her on, Lindsay faced extremely hard days with courage, humour and grace. She met an unending series of setbacks and side effects with a resiliency that actually carried us all through. She was amazing. Under the care of skilled and thoughtful medical teams, and held in the strong arms of her Saviour, she kept faith and envisioned a return to Alberta, her career, and many more adventures. After finally completing the treatments she came home to begin her recuperation, only to see the disease return with a vengeance. Surrounded by so many who cherished her, she passed away quickly. On her final morning on this earth, she spoke gratefully about the love and forgiveness of God that she sensed so keenly. She believed for a miracle with her family, yet trusting Christ she gracefully and courageously released her grip on the present for the eternal. Her adventure had begun. She was much loved. Her own personal challenges gave her an openness that drew people to her. She always valued people, and was intent on including others in whatever was happening. Lindsay's love for her family and friends was evidenced over and over. Her humour was there at even the darkest moments. Her smile lit up the room. She will never, ever be forgotten. One day soon, in the presence of Christ, we will join her at the party...hanging with her friends, enjoying the moment and living it to the max....forever.
