Obituary of Ruby Leticia Hope
Ruby was born, raised and lived most of her life in the village of Apohaqui; she was the daughter of the late James Marshall and Adeline Edna (McKnight) Campbell and was the wife of the late Alfred Hope, who passed away in 1971.
Her early summers were spent back at the point. (The one spot she truly loved) Where she taught the village children to swim.
Ruby's education started in the little two room school that she would later teach in. The one time that she left her peaceful little village was when she moved to Little Lepreau to teach. When she returned, she brought with her, her husband Alfred.
Family was very important to her, so once the boys came, she gave up teaching for a few years to raise them. By the time that Jim and Dick were school age she went to cook in the hunting camp. By the time that Wayne was in grade two she returned to teaching. She once remarked that she knew that she had been teaching a long time, because she was teaching the children of children she had taught. She even taught her own grandson.
Ruby loved to bake and her desserts were always in high demand.
Whether she was known as Ruby or Mrs. Hope she has touched so many lives and will be deeply missed.
Ruby will live on in the hearts of her sons: James "Jim" and his wife Dianna of Cambridge Narrows and Wayne and his wife Donna of Lunnenburg, NS; her grandchildren: Jim Hope, Crystal McCallum and her husband Tim, Shannon, Adam, Amanda and Heidi Hope; her four great grandchildren: Brandon, Lauryn, Kacey and Cory.
