Obituary of Mabel Eloise Tamlyn

Mabel was born in Bloomfield on March 27, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Muriel (Sherwood) Hughson and the wife of the late Paul Tamlyn, who passed away in 2002. Mabel grew up in Bloomfield Station. She would travel back and forth everyday on the train, to complete her graduation from Sussex High School. Mabel met Paul, fell in love and the two were married on April 5, 1952. They moved to Sussex, where they resided for their entire married life. Mabel was a stay at home mom, looking after her family and was so very proud of the fact that she never worked a day outside of her home. In addition to raising her family, Mabel loved antiques and regularly attended many auctions and yards sales to find her treasures. Mabel's love was also shared by her husband, Paul. In fact, she and Paul had a booth at the Antique Auto Flea Market for 19 years. Mabel studied antiques books and was very fond of fine china. She and Paul spent many enjoyable afternoons out for a drive, picnic lunches and visiting the Tait family at their farm. Mabel was very interested in her family’s history. Over the years she contacted many relatives for information to update her records of the family tree. She provided detailed information and pictures to her nephew, James Jr. in order that he can continue documenting the family history. Mabel was very proud of this work, and spoke about it often. She was proud of heritage. Both her father and her mother descended from the United Empire Loyalists. Mabel will continue to live on in the hearts of her son, Peter and his wife Barbara of New Line; her sisters-in-law: Helen Hughson and Wanda Herrington and her husband Jim; her dear cousin, Beth Jost and her husband Norm; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mabel Eloise Tamlyn of Sussex, passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on June 24, 2016 at the age of 85. Mabel had suffered for many years with Parkinson's disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
