Obituary of Roger Norman Brideau

Mr. Roger Norman Brideau was born in Tracadie, NB on February 12, 1940, he was the son of the late Norman and Rita (Arsenault) Brideau. As a child, Roger or "Gorf" (frog backwards) as he was affectionately known as attended Holy Trinity School in Saint John. He would joke that he loved his first grade teacher so much that he went back a second time. School wasn't where he wanted to be, so after grade 6, he decided it had been long enough. Once Roger joined the workforce, he worked in Saint John as a mechanic for several years. He loved to tinker and work on cars so much that even after he became a janitor for several school in Saint John and then moving to Cambridge Narrows School, he still made cars his pass time. He just loved seeing how things worked. Roger loved music, especially banjo and harmonica. He was known to play the harmonica a time or two but always tried to get the grandkids to play it for him. He had a love of horses and his leather; whether it was his vest or his cap. His passion was for hunting and every year would have to go after his buck, or his doe whatever the luck of the draw might be. Roger was the nicest man you would ever meet, a kind hearted and wonderful man and a loving father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. The bond he shared with his number one girl, Wendy and her beautiful family was so important to him. He was an amazing friend with a great personality and love of life, he was loved by everyone who knew him. A true representation of fingerprints never fading on the lives we touch. He was Donna's biggest supporter of her music and the love of her life. He made it to every music show in southern New Brunswick just to cheer her on. He and Donna were a team, whether it was sharing their love of music, caring for Edith during her sickness or celebrating life with adventures, field trips, exploring or beach days. They truly were two peas in a pod. Mr. Roger Norman Brideau of Cambridge Narrows passed away with Donna by his side after a long and courageous battle on August 15, 2016 at the age of 76. He is will live on in the hearts of his partner, Donna Stephenson; his children: Wendy Brideau and Gary Marks, Jonathan White and Stacey Buckley-Long, Mark Brideau, Roger Brideau and Danny Brideau; his sister, Sandra Jordan and her husband Charles; his aunt, Sister Dorice Arsenault; his grandchildren: Bayton and Talon Brideau, Jackson Brideau-Marks, Sarah Thibodeau, Shane White and Shawn White; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
