Clarence Ward

Obituary of Clarence Lemuel Ward

Clarence was born in Gambo on December 26, 1949 and was the son of the late Simon and Frances (Horlick) Ward. Clarence and Madeline moved to Sussex in 1983 with their girls and they had a wonderful life together. He went to work with PCS as a tradesman until he retired. Madeline and Clarence were truly “the love of one another’s life”. They really were an example of what it means to be someone’s soul mate and best friend. Family was everything and he and Madeline had two beautiful daughters (Laurie and Mandy). Clarence’s greatest joy in life was that of his daughters and grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. Clarence always had a positive attitude about life and he lived his life to the fullest. He was a simple man with a heart of gold. Clarence battled his cancer for years and never let it interfere with his life. He was always willing to do whatever he had to do, to be well again. He loved to hunt and fish and really enjoyed the outdoors. Whether it was catching fish in the ocean or hunting moose with his brothers at their camp, Newfoundland was his hometown and spending time there with his brothers gave him great joy. Clarence would love to plant things, especially trees, and watch them grow. His vegetable garden was a thing of beauty and you could often find him in the kitchen preserving what he’d grown or cooking a great meal. He would enjoy picking apples from his tree and would eat them as he worked around the yard. Clarence loved company and was never too busy when a friend came by to drop everything, to have a chat and even share a drink or two. He loved to socialize and have fun. He was the most kind and loving man that you could hope meet. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with Madeline, Clarence is survived by his daughter Laurie (Rob) Gaudet of St. Antoine, NB; his brothers: Harry (Louise) of Toronto, ON, Frank (Linda) of Gambo, NL, Roger (Kathy) of Flat Rock, NL and Charlie (Peggy) of Labrador City, NL; his only sister Joy (Cecil) Janes of Gambo, NL; Billy Belding, Mandy's life-partner and Connor's father; his precious grandchildren: Connor Ward, Jayden Gaudet and Denika Gaudet and many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his daughter Mandy Ward and his brother Calvin.
