Obituary of Aleta Mae Duplessis
Aleta Mae Duplessis was born in Saint John on December 24, 1951. She grew up in Lorneville, Saint John and was the daughter of the late Peter “Calvin” and Eunice “Christina” Edgett.
In 1970, Aleta married the love of her life, Joseph Anthony Duplessis and they began their beautiful family. They were blessed with five children: Troy, Eleanor, Tara, Gloria and Calvin. Words cannot express how much her family meant to her. Her love for her family grew as she had 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Whenever Aleta would speak of her family, she was full of pride and always had a smile on her face. Aleta and Tony had a love for Tim Horton’s and everyone knew that if you were coming for a visit you had to bring a coffee.
As they were growing up, all the kids remember their mother as a loving, caring woman who loved them unconditionally and would drop anything to help when she could. If anyone in the family needed something she was the one to go to. Aleta was a hard working mother who didn’t stop. Taking care of people came naturally to her. When it came to choosing a profession, being a care giver for Red Cross was a simple decision for her.
Aleta had a love for giving. She enjoyed volunteering at the Sussex Sharing Club and looked forward to her coffee dates with her friends. She also had a passion for yard sales and was known for her pursuit of a good deal. You knew if you wanted to see her on a Saturday morning you had to go yard sailing with her and being the first ones there was never a problem because she had a need for speed. Getting out of her car was not hard either; because one day trying to rush to be the first one at the yard sale, she ripped the door handle.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year; she loved decorating and having her family and friends squeezed in her living room around a delicious turkey dinner and of course all the wonderful pies she made.
Aleta will always be remembered for her hard work ethic, love of volunteering and the love of her family. We love you and promise to let the amazing memories that we have with you live forever in our hearts.
A wonderful woman taken too soon.
She will live on in the hearts of her loving husband of over 45 years, Joseph “Tony”; her daughters: Eleanor Duplessis of Sussex, Tara Cameron and her husband Eben of British Columbia and Gloria Reicker and her husband Clint of Hatfield Point; her sons: Troy Duplessis and his wife Tammy of Riverbank and Calvin Duplessis and his wife Patsy Audet of Whites Mountain; her sister, Gloria Nice and her husband David of Norton; her brothers: Vincent Edgett and his wife Elizabeth of Lorneville, Charles Edgett and his wife Valerie of Saint John and Darrell Edgett of Saint John; her step brother, Allison Wannamaker; her grandchildren: Laura Bérubé and her husband Mathieu, Randy Williams and Jenna Dunfield, Chelsea Duplessis and Luke Grant, Joseph Duplessis and Erika McDermott, Brittany Loeppky and her husband Dave, Jessica Cameron and Brandon Duguay, Hunter Reicker, Samuel Reicker, Johnathon Desrosiers and Mercedes Mercer, Jessica Desrosiers and Kirk Mercer and Blake Dicks; her great grandchildren: Keaton Williams, Theo Bérubé, Richard Williams, Olivia Williams, Allyson Duplessis, Kayden Grant, Jackson Duguay and Cooper Loeppky; her uncle William “Billy” Edgett; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
