Obituary of Jean Marie Ross
Mrs. Jean Marie Ross was born in Sussex, NB on August 20, 1946. She was the daughter of the late John and Eva (Gibbs) Ross.
Jean worked as the Activity Director at the Kiwanis Nursing Home for 27 ½ years until her retirement approximately 5 years ago. She was an amazing woman who absolutely loved her work. She had a way of caring for people that was so very special.
Jean took extra special care of her mother and even her brother Jack for most of her adult life. She always chose the needs of her patients, friends and family above her own. She was selfless and giving, a true role model to those who loved her.
Family meant everything to Jean and her children were her greatest accomplishment. She always said that she couldn’t possibly have had 2 better kids. Jean’s grandchildren also brought great joy to her life and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Beyond Mike and her family, Jean had a few passions. She was a loyal supporter of the 8th Hussars Regimental Museum and the Red Cross. She was also an avid golfer and continued to golf right up until last year. She and Mike and friends loved to play at the golf course at Scenic View Campground where she had been summering for nearly 20 years. Her “Millstream Family” there at the campground was extremely important to her and Mike and on any given Friday or Saturday night, there wasn’t a seat to be had on their front deck. Jean’s trailer was the place to be and when you went for a visit, she made everyone feel welcome and cared for.
Jean will be truly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Jean will live on in the hearts of Michael Gibson of Roachville; her son Stephen Pearson and his wife Laurie of New Maryland; her daughter Jackie Perry and her husband Wayne of Cody's; her sisters: Phyllis Cooling and her husband Doug of Miramichi and Sheila Ross of Ottawa; her grandchildren: Courtney Perry and Dan Blais, Cody Perry and Cassidee Perry, Simon, Oliver, Hunter and Mya Pearson; her extended family: Michael Gibson and his wife Natasha, Morgan Gibson and his wife Colleen; Kayla, Cloe, Connor, Bailey, John and Jessie; her life long friend Bonnie Northrup; her nephews: Rick Lockhart and his wife Alaina, Nick Cooling and Alex Cooling; nieces Lori Muir and her husband Dave and Cathy LeBreton and her husband Evan and many other extended family members and friends.
Along with her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brother Jack Ross, her sister Ann Lockhart and her brother-in-law Larry Lockhart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Honouring her request, there will be no visitation.
A service celebrating Jean’s life will be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment in Wards Creek Cemetery in the Spring
