Brenda & family. Just as his dad, David, and his grandfather did, Don always left me feeling just a bit more proud of our community whenever I would pop into Moffetts and have a chance meeting with him. Sometimes I would meet and chat with Don after receiving a handwritten letter from him containing some well thought out suggestions on how to perhaps improve one thing or another. I always thought it was neat and so fitting that he would message me in a way so seemingly timeless as the desk in Moffetts that he no doubt wrote his letter on.
When we moved to Sussex from Dartmouth in 1970 Dad made Moffetts our first stop so we could pick up hooks and spinners for brook trout. I bought my first rifle that I use today there and the list goes on.
So many in our community have their own stories about Don, your family, and the store that I am certain that, through the sadness of the past few days, many smiles have appeared too as stories have been shared.
Carol and I are saddened by Don's passing and we will miss him.

To the Moffett Family : So many connections, but I will only speak of one. Whenever, I had a mural tour we made an unannounced stop at the Hardware Store. As always, someone would meet us at the door. Then Don would greet us with the quiet smile and produce the Guestbook. From there, conversations began with the visitors. Probably not many purchases left the store, but the buzz continued onto the bus. On those occasions, I never left without his smile and thank you. Our community has lost a gentle giant. May his legacy live! So sorry!

I had the honour of working with don a quite a few radio marketing ads over the years. Don actually came up with many a unique creative ideas including the radio famous "Frugal Hunter." Which we did many a spin-offs of over the years when it came to his hunting ads in the fall. A smart business man and a great community minded person as well. Will be sadly missed.
