To the family of James Stevens,
I am sorry to hear of James passing. I ran into him some time ago at McCready's and I recall that he seemed pleased that I recognized him and said hello. Stopping to say hello to James could be time consuming, often entertaining and always time well spent. I expect some of his hunting stories crossed paths with those of my father on occasion.
Our sincere condolences,
The Hawker family

TO Nancy&Leslie and Mike and Linda and your Families: What can I say about Uncle James? He was the best story teller that I know? He could make a story seem so true and then went he was done telling it their would be that Laugh. My biggest memory that l have was went i was a young young teenager he would always like to give us nicknames and i had several. I will miss seeing him sitting out front of the house watching and enjoying the outdoors. Went we would be out for drives on a sunny day and be driving by and he was outside we would stop in for a visit thinking it would be a short one but it was never a small one you were their for a couple of hour listening. He will be miss

Leslie and Nancy, Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. My husband and I were out for a drive awhile back and stopped in to see Uncle James. We had a nice visit with him, and of course got caught up on a few stories he loved to tell. Years ago, when we used to camp at Union Settlement with Mom and Dad (sister, Marguerite and Bud Stilwell), James would often be out for a drive and stop in to visit. I know it's never easy saying goodbye to your dad. May he rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to the family.Bev and I stopped to visit Uncle James when we were in the Coles Island area.He truly was a story teller and a fast talker.I had a hard job following the stories,as you have said ,one story blended into the next and he would be laughing at his own stories.Bev had a few stories of his Uncle James when he was growing up.If I remember correctly ,he loaned Bev his car for graduation night.I am sure as a family you all have your special stories to remember your Dad and Grandfather that you can share and laugh about as you look back over the years.
