Obituary of Beverly Ora Folkins
Mr. Beverly Ora Folkins was born at home on New Line Rd on April 2, 1938; he was the son of the late Ora and Clara (Goggin) Folkins.
Farming was in Bev's blood and after working for a short time at Canadian Tire he would go on to work for Surge Milking Equipment, as a salesperson. Bev got his start with Ford working for Ness' Ford dealership; he took such passion in his work that he would later open his own dealership, Bev Folkins Ltd. Whether running a beef operation, taking a course in auctioneering or working with Ora Buchanan for several years, Bev was always busy learning new things.
Over the years, Bev served in various capacities on numerous committees within his community and church. Bev was a man of great faith. He was in his element when teaching the Book of Revelations in his adult Sunday School class.
Playing the fiddle on Monday night with the Happy-Go-Lucky Fiddlers and reminiscing with family and friends were Bev's favourite pastimes. Currently his passion was the acquisition and restoration of antique tractors which he referred to as Bev's Toys. On March 14, he would spend his last day, doing what he loved; working in his shop painting one of his tractors.
Bev will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 53 years, Grace (Taylor) Folkins;his daughters: Sharon Moore and Connie Folkins; his sisters: Jean Alward (Reverend Ford), Dawna Mahoney (Reg) and Marilyn Thorne (Eldon); his Grandchildren: Courtney (Scott), Katie (Adam), and Taylor; his great grandson, Devin and his son-in-law, Richard Moore; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
