Obituary of Frieda Elizabeth Carten

Frieda Carten was born on the Belleisle on January 13 1933; a daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Vail) Sheehan. Frieda took wonderful care of her family and loved them dearly. She was talented at knitting, sewing and quilting. Frieda was a great cook and a wonderful house keeper, always keeping her home neat and tidy. She was blessed with a wonderful memory that she processed up until the end of her life. Reading the newspaper from cover to cover enabled her to discuss current world issues right up until her last few days with us. Quite by nature, yet she so enjoyed socializing, special musical events and attending church services at the Spencer home where she had been a resident for the past number of years. Frieda will remain forever in the hearts of her daughters: Nancy Reardon of Moncton and Rose Jenkins and husband Charles of Young’s Cove; two sisters: Gladys Thorne and Rita Thorne; brother-in-law, Vernon Brown as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Frieda is predeceased by her husband, Fred A. Carten; three brothers: Lloyd, Kenneth and Charles Sheehan; four sisters: Evelyn Lajoie, Mildred MacKenzie, Martha Brown, Faye Adams and by her son in law, Thomas Reardon. Frieda Elizabeth Carten passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 25th 2017 at the Moncton City Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506–433–1176) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28th from 1-3 pm. A service celebrating Mrs. Carten’s life will be held Wallace Community Chapel, on Tuesday March 28th, 2017 at 4:00 pm. If you are considering making a memorial donation the family has recommended the Children’s Wish Foundation.
