I was shocked and extremely saddened to learn that Frankie has passed away. I regret that I missed seeing him when visiting Coles Island last summer. In my boyhood memory I always think of Frankie as a capable, energetic, larger-than-life outdoorsmen. I always enjoyed spending time with him. My thoughts and prayers to Nancy, Peter and Heather, and to Marg, Joanie and Jeanette.

Loved getting to know Frankie and Nancy through their visits to

Nancy, Peter and Heather,
I have such sadness in my heart for the whole Family. Yes, you all have been a part of St. Margaret's Church and we were also blessed on many occasions to have Frankie present. I can well imagine what a great husband/father/grandfather Frankie was. I only was in his presence a handful of time but I always was so comfortable around him...he had that carishma (spelling?) that just drew a person in. Gentle Giant.

Always looked forward to the "huge" camper every summer being parked on our lawn. That meant Frankie and Nancy were here!!!!
He will be missed terribly. Loved our get togethers with the Canadians and Frankie's frying up eggs - huge ones supplied by my sister Sal. We have had so many wonderful times over the years. But, also have so many wonderful memories of all these times.

Our thoughts are with Frankies family at this difficult time. I only recently connected with Frankie as an adult, but I have memories of trips to the 'sawdust pile' with Dad when I was young, filling the trailer and make a trip up the road where I believe the sawdust was then put around the edge of the house as 'banking' to keep the sills warm. I suspect Frankie spent a few days 'exploring' that pile of sawdust in his youth, perhaps with Uncle Freddie??

Dear Nancy and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you wishing that I could attend the service which I will not be able to do. I will be thinking of you all, though, and remembering my favorite memory of Frankie. Several years ago, my family in Nashville, TN found two long campers parked in our driveway one day - Pern & Dorothy in one and Frankie & Nancy in the other. It just happened to be Frankie's birthday, so I went out and got a cake, ice cream and colorful supplies so we could celebrate his birthday after dinner that evening. We sang to him and his face lit right up! He thanked me for thinking of him and mentioned that story at reunions and visits several times afterwards. It really seemed to tickle him!
I am so glad that my family and I got to know Nancy and Frankie - a true blessing in our lives. Love you great Canadians and so proud to know we are family. Love, Rhondie Northrup Gillis
