To Phyllis,Larry and family:
Please accept our most sincere condolences! We just learned of Bill's passing. I would see him on a regular basis at the local shopping mall and was wondering where he had been for the past while? He did enjoy the Legion. He would always make sure I did not wear a hat and that Jackie paid admission when ever I played with my Band at the Legion. He accepted no breach of the rules! He never spoke of himself or his problems but always kept us informed about the lives of others. He spoke of the both of you and the family every time I saw him!
Deepest Regrets!
Jim and Jackie Stephenson!

To William's family and loved ones,
I have been an acquaintance of Bill'y for many years.having been employed by RBC in Sussex, since the middle eighties,I met Billy at the mall. The old mall. I did not know him,but he knew many of my family members that had lived in the Norton area since the late sixties, and he initiated a conversation. As someone else has mentioned,he had a wonderful memory. Not that long ago,I met him again, and he remember me,I was surprised,as I have been out of the area for many years.I never saw him without a smile, and I thought every time I saw him that he must be a very happy person.I do not know his life's story, but the one thing I do know, is that the world needs a great many more like William.I also, only knew him as Billy.
RIP William. You are one of the chosen .
Sincerely, Lynn Loughery.

I was very saddened to hear today of Billy's passing. Being a bit younger cousin I always knew of Billy as "Billy" and never knew that he now preferred to be called William. I spent many days visiting at the Long home at River Bank (pre 1967). Biking in the summer or sliding in the winter were our pastimes and trout fishing on the Willcox (?) Brook. As mentioned by so many already Billy always had an interest in people and catching up to date on how you were doing. His passing has brought a flood of memories back.
My condolences to Phyllis and Larry,
Vernon Bustin

Way back in the 60's I met Bill. He and I were always good friends chatting and just walking about. As the years went by we never seemed to miss finding time to visit. Always looking for a lift because of his sore knee added to time for a great laugh . He loved to tease and joke. Jane and I can truly say the world was a better place because of Billy. qWe will miss him. He always kept me up to speed on his family and people I had no knowledge about... But doesn't everyone do that..

To Billy's Family:
We extend to you our sympathy and support during this time. Whenever we came home to Carsonville/Sussex and enjoyed a trip into town we were almost guaranteed to run into Billy in the Mall. He always gave us updates on his health and his family - telling us about the latest news and finding out what was happening in our lives. In honour of Billy and our family connection (our grandmothers were sisters) a donation will be made to the Carsonville Head-of-Millstream United Church where our grandmothers attended. With hearts filled with thankfulness for a life lived we surround you with love during your days of grief and loss. Blessings, Neil McEwen and Philip Himmelman Pentz, Nova Scotia.

My wife and I are so sorry for the loss of such a dear friend
William, as he liked to be called was my best friend. William was a compassionate, loving, caring man who had a great love of people and especially loved to talk about his Mother and Father and the many things he learned from them. William aside from being a great talker was a better listener and I never knew him to forget anything. My wife and I and William spent many good times together travelling mostly to Fredericton and Moncton and dining at lots of restaurants along the way. William always called us on our birthdays and we attended many of the Gagetown fairs together. William had a real belief of God and in all my years as a friend to William he never once displayed anger or spoke an angry word. I can honestly say I never heard his curse. Will had a great love of life, rarely complained and when he did it was only about something that he felt so strongly about that he had to say something but it was never directed at a person but done respectfully to the situation and in a way that he was questioning why.
We love and will miss William.
