Obituary of William Russell Long
Mr. William Russell Long was born in Sussex, NB on May 26, 1949; he was the son of the late Russell and Ethyl (Riedle) Long.
A proud ship builder, having worked with the yard group at Saint John Ship Building for over 25 years.
He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20. Where he loved to volunteer. Shuffle board was a favorite pastime. He was a adept at his hand held poker game.
He loved being around people. Well known by many people in Sussex. He was very proud of and greatly loved his parents and had a great interest in his family genealogy.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Virginia of Alberta; his brother, Larry (Sue) of Saskatoon; his sister, Phyllis Long-MacAfee of Montreal; his nephews: Dylan and Nigel and his niece Gabrielle.
Mr. William Russell Long of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Center on July 11, 2017 at the age of 68.
He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Long.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 will hold a tribute, Thursday evening at 5:45.
A service celebrating Bill's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 3:00pm. There will be a time of fellowship with the family immediately following the service in the Wallace Reception Area. The interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery, Riverbank, NB.
