Jeannie and family! Life will never be the same without him!I remember you two little tykes living across the fence from me when I was being brought up by the Camerons and in recent years since we both lived up at the top of the hill we often had brief discussions when I saw him out walking.He was obviously a great lover of the out doors.Our old neighbourhood is loosing all the best people.

Was shocked to hear of Joe's passing. Joe was, as has been said by others, a "kind and gentle soul". He was a fixture at the top of the Hill and will be truly missed. Joe was the kind of guy who would keep an eye on neighbours property when the owners were away, be it for a day or a week. I remember Joe checking on Mom and Dads property. He would make a trip around the house three times a day. He was a 'kind and gentle soul'. I remember as a kid, Joe could be seen mowing the lawn and putting wood in with his Dad. He always had a smile and always had a kind word. He will be missed. RIP Joe! You deserve a rest!

I am very sorry to hear of Joe passing. I remember back to the times when we were little and Cindy and I would "run away from home" every other day, always to George and Florence's house. Joe was there, laughing at us and scaring us with spooky noises. He always had a smile when you saw him walking around town and a friendly word to brighten your day. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear about Joe's passing. Joe would always stop for a chat when I saw him around town and has been a part of our lives for as long as I can remember since he grew up neighbors with my Dad's family up on the hill. He will always be remembered as a kind gentle soul.

Lou & I are very sad to hear of Joe's death. Joe and his family have been a part of ours since the 1960s as neighbours at the top of O'Connell Hill. In his obituary, Joe is described as a good-hearted man, and that is the perfect description. He was so very good to our mom, Edie McArthur, especially so when she was crippled and sick. He was just a wonderful person to have nearby. Our daughter said tonight she remembered Joe was there to bury Mom's cat, Sammy, when Mom had to put her to sleep a few years ago. Our daughter went with Mom to the vet, and when they returned, Joe came over and did this very kind deed for Mom. That was who he was - kind, gentle. Rest in peace, Joe.
