Mr. Carl Anton Smidt was born in Saint John on July 13, 1935 to Erik and Ingrid (Bertelsen) Smidt. At a very young age his father had to return to Denmark to serve for the Danish Merchant Navy. At the age of 15, he returned to Canada.
Carl married Eleanor Stevens on October 3, 1959. They would carry on their love story through their children: John, Robert and Susan and later their grandchildren: Justin, Michael and Eva. In 1990 at the age of 54, he retired as the Regional Superintendent of Electronics Maintenance and was a proud member of the NBSCETT. Carl was very proud of his Certificate of Appreciation for his work assisting the US Coast Guard.
