We just came across this touching memorial to Thomas Anderson. We had the privilege and honor of staying the night with Tom and Linda at the Anderson's Holiday Farm in October of 1996 (we were 35 at the time) as part of trip through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Even though we only stayed one night, we had a wonderful and memorable time sharing stories through the evening. We so enjoyed their menagerie of farm animals - we have particular fondness for Nestor the donkey, who we still think about from time to time and always brings a smile.
Know that Tom's was a life well lived and that he touched many lives, even in different countries!

Laura.... both Bruce and I are sorry to hear that Tom has passed away. Bruce has known Tom for most of his life, through interests in Agriculture. He was such a gentle man. I always enjoyed seeing the two of you at Society meetings. A few years back he asked me to make a teddy bear out of a fur coat.... he seemed please when it was done.

Anderson Family,
My husband and I were out for a drive this past summer. We were looking for a particular person that had moved to the Newtown area. We were having trouble finding the right road. I saw a figure in the doorway of this home and pulled into the driveway and up to the house.
Out comes an elderly gentleman and after telling him what we wanted , a conversation started up. I knew some Anderson names from my Mom, like Della and Edris and Gary Anderson . I told 'Tom' who my Mom was and that she was born in Smith Creek . I asked if he knew Silas and Gertrude Schofield. We spent quite a bit of time sharing stories back and forth. How delighted I was to have met him. I couldn't wait to tell my Mom (Kathryn Maxan) MacLeod. She enjoyed the stories he had shared with us and was glad to know that we had this time with Tom.
I was even more thrilled to see an article in the paper about Tom just a few days later.
I shared this obituary with my Mom who will soon be 87. There are few people left from 'home'. I spent a few summers in Newton with Uncle Silas and Aunt Gertie and loved it there on the farm. Newtown and Smith Creek hold a special place in my heart.
I want to tell you how glad I was to get to meet 'Tom'. We had hoped to get back again and perhaps meet Mrs. Tom ( Laura). We and Mom want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless and Comfort you at this time.

On behalf of the Kent County Agricultural Fair Board of Directors, Volunteers, Committee Members. I wish to pass on our sincere condolences to the Anderson Family. Tom, Laura and their family, grandsons Bryce & Jordan have been sheep exhibitors and supports of the Fair for many years. Tom was an inspiration for many in the Sheep Industry and was always a welcomed exhibitor at our Fair. I first met Tom and Laura many years ago when I was the Dept of Agr. Rep involved in the NB Farm Vacations Association, Tom and Laura welcomed me into their home during one of their meetings and I quickly discovered these were two passionate people within the Agricultural Community. Tom will be missed by many and it is our hope his memory will live on at Expo Kent through the eyes of his Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
