Obituary of Carl Doyle

It is with sadness that the family of Carl Cecil Doyle, age 62, husband of Linda (Davis) Doyle, announces his death which occurred on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Sussex Health Centre.  He was born on April 15, 1956, in Sussex, NB.  Carl is the son of his biological parents, Elsie (Payne) Meehan and the late Joseph Doyle, as well as a step son of Anne (Brown) Doyle and the late Hugh Meehan.

Over the years, Carl worked for the Town of Sussex and Sussex Cheese and Butter, where he met his beloved wife Linda, but he is most known for working at Kent Building Supplies for many years. There he began lifelong friendships with coworkers and customers. The customers would always seek out Carl to help them or just to chat.

After meeting at Sussex Cheese and Butter where they both worked, Carl and Linda married in 1975 and lived with Carl’s grandparents, Cecil and Ruth, for 2 years while they saved money to build a house. In 1977, they bought a nice lot on Magnolia Ave. in Sussex where they began their journey, and what a journey that would prove to be. They started building in 1977 and moved into the partially finished house in 1978, just in time as Carl and Linda got news they were having twins. Two weeks before Linda gave birth, the doctor gave them a life changing surprise - they were having triplets. In 1979, Linda gave birth to three girls: Carla, Carlene and Charlene. With all those girls around, Carl decided to build a garage in 1984. He didn’t go small. Carl may have been a small man, but his projects were never small. In that garage he spent many nights building desks, beds, doll cradles, and many other things. In 1987, Carl and Linda had tried for a boy.  They didn’t get a boy however, they got their Lacey, the baby of the family.

Carl loved everything hunting and fishing. He would take turns taking his girls on fishing trips, driving to the middle of nowhere with his little green ranger to get to the best fishing holes. The girls knew when you saw dad standing in the doorway of your elementary school classroom waving at you, that meant he was there to pick you up for an evening hunt. He loved moose season; Carl, James and Harold were known as the “three musketeers.”  They always came back with stories, if they were all true or not would be another story. After one of the Cassidy Lake Fishing Derbies, one of them came back wet.  They had fallen out of the boat.  Carl would always tell James that he’d bring the sandwiches on their outings. Carl liked salmon sandwiches, James didn’t but he made the sandwiches anyway.  By the end of it James, liked salmon sandwiches too. As the grandchildren started to arrive, Carl was eager to get them out fishing and hunting and so he did. Much like with his girls, his grandchildren got to experience the same trips with their Grampie.

Carl took great pride in his family.  He was so proud of his girls and grandchildren.  He adored Linda. To the girls he always called her “mommy” and even as the girls grew to adults, he still referred to her as “mommy”. Carl was a hard worker, great provider, and loving son, husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Linda of 43 years; daughters: Carla Doyle (Wayne Folkins) of Pleasant Ridge, Carlene Doyle (Noel Chown) of Gibbon Mountain, Charlene (Shane) Adair of Sussex, Lacey (Shane) Teakles of Hatfield Point; grandchildren Michael, Wyatt, Hope, Gabriel, Chloe; half-brother Jason (Carol) Doyle; half-sisters Monica Doyle, Melissa Davis and Pam Davis; brothers-in-law Ray (Nancy) Davis and Brian Davis.

Predeceased by his mother-in-law Irene Davis; brothers-in-law Richard Davis, Reginald Davis and sister-in-law Valerie Boyd.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 6 to 8pm and Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8pm, with a Legion Tribute beginning at 5:45pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11:00am from Wallace Community Chapel.  Interment will take place in Gosline Cemetery.
