Obituary of Laura Myrilla Bursey

It is with tender hearts that we announce the passing of Laura Myrilla (McAllister) Bursey, cherished wife and mother, on Monday, July 23rd, 2018 at the Sussex Health Center.

Born May 25th, 1936, Laura was the daughter of Earl Frederick McAllister and Alice Elizabeth Erb. She is survived by her sweet companion of 60 years Donald Boyd Bursey and her loving children, Joan (Preston) Routledge, Sara (Peter) Cyngot, and Walter (Theresa) Bursey, and by her precious grandchildren Vanessa (Michael) Coggan, Ashley (Brian) McEwen, Dylan (Taylor) Routledge, Lindsay Cyngot, Kelsey (Dave) McCoy, Devan Bursey and Hannah Bursey, great grandchildren Slade, Clara, Aubrie and Gage, Amelia, and Iris who were a constant source of joy throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents and beloved sister, Joyce Carol Gehring.

Laura will be missed not only by her family, but by a myriad of friends and colleagues  who have had the privilege to know her.

To say she was kind and charitable does not begin to express the many ways she has touched lives over the years by caring for and loving those who had no one else to do so, whether close family members, dear friends or even strangers. It was a life calling and she answered the call whenever and without hesitation.

Laura worked as an X-ray technician at the Saint John General Hospital. It was not only work that she found fulfilling but proved to be the source of a match made in heaven!

Laura spent many years of dedicated service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a seminary teacher, visiting teacher, Relief Society president and Stake Relief Society president. Working alongside her husband in temple service, and researching countless hours, adding thousands of names to her own family history and many others, was what she cherished most!

To say Laura will be missed cannot begin to express the feeling of loss we now must face, but she deeply believed in the beautiful plan of happiness that assured her not only will she be reunited with the family she has left behind but would experience a joyous reunion with her many loved ones who had gone on before her. She taught her family well, this beautiful eternal principle - Families Are Forever.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (177 Villa Dr. Hampton, NB) on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 6-9pm,  followed by a service celebrating Laura's life on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:30am.
