Obituary of Hugh Hogg

It is with heavy hearts that we announce to our friends and family the death of our beloved Hugh Campbell Hogg, which occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on August 28, 2018. Shortly after a brief prayer with our pastor Rev. Jim Agrell and close friend, Kerry Allison, Hugh went to his heavenly home. He was born on May 30, 1941 in Port Glasgow, Scotland a son of the late Hugh and Christina (Purdue) Hogg.

While living in Scotland, Hugh attended the Church of the Nazarene with his parents. His extra curricular interests included soccer, track and field, tennis until one day when the courts were overbooked he went to try a game of golf. After that one game, his interest in all other sports faded. When he retired in 2003, he was among the foursome who kept the first tee off time each morning. He golfed regularly until a back injury two years ago caused him to give up playing the game, but never his interest.

Hugh came to Canada to work in the office of the shipyards in Saint John in 1961. In 1963 he was offered an opportunity to study and work with computers and this line of work became his career path, taking him to Quebec for five years and Port Hawkesbury, NS for twenty-nine years until his retirement in 2003.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 54 years, Elaine, his two loving daughters, Heather (Bill) Austin of London ON; and Heidi (Al) Burns of Woodstock, NB; and his three grandchildren, Emily Inman of Calgary, Alicia Inman of Fredericton and Matthew Inman of Woodstock.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176).  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from10:00am to noon.  Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm, all from the Sussex Wesleyan Church, 280 St. George Street.
