I was heartbroken when I heard of Shannon's passing. She is going to be missed so much by everyone. She was such a friendly and happy person. She has been a good friend ever since Stirling started raising broiler chickens. How he loved to tease her, but she always had a good "come-back" for him. He loved that. In 1986 he and I took a trip to BC leaving our daughter Wendy to look after the farm. Shannon came over several times while we were away to check on her and gave her some very good advice on anything she wasn't too sure of. I know we and Wendy appreciated that so much. That's just the kind of thoughtfulness that Shannon always showed.
These last 4 years Shannon has called me every 3 or 4 weeks and I have enjoyed those phone calls so much. The last one was just the week before she passed away. I am going to miss those phone calls so much.
She certainly loved her family so much and was so proud of all of you and your accomplishments.

I too have been part of the Shur Gain Family for 38 years and have had the pleasure of knowing Shannon for many of them - a person with Strong work ethics, a great laugh , and most of all hearing how much she loved her family. I remember the battles over late feed orders back in the Maple Leaf Poultry days when she was placing chicks in the barns and arranging kill dates.
