Paul Wright

Obituary of Paul Arthur Wright

Paul Arthur Wright of Pine Street, Sussex, New Brunswick passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 14th, 2018 after a series of health complications related to a lifelong struggle with Crohn’s disease.

Paul was born on March 21st, 1948 to his mother, Winifred P. Wright (Munroe) and father, Arthur E. Wright. Paul is survived by his three children, Frances, Eliza, and Daniel; their partners, Ryan, Hugo and Kassandra; his three grandchildren, Jack, Evan, and Leo; his sister, Anne; and cousins and other extended family in the Sussex area.

Paul spent some of his youth as a resident of Moncton, New Brunswick, but for most of his life he lived in Sussex, a place that he was proud to call home. In Paul’s younger years he enjoyed cadets and recreationally flying small aircraft. Paul graduated from UNB Fredericton in 1971 with a Major in Political Science. He enjoyed his time in Fredericton immensely, sharing pints with friends at the Riverview Arms pub and studying politics at UNB, all things that he spoke of often throughout his life. Paul had a passion for politics, history, rock and roll, jazz, and cars. After graduating from UNB, Paul briefly worked for Bricklin Canada Ltd. where he performed quality control for their vehicles. Paul often mentioned this job as a highlight of his life and that it was great to be paid to drive cars fast around a track. After Bricklin shut their doors, Paul went on to work for Canada Post, where he happily served the community of Sussex for over 30 years before retiring.

Arrangements for Paul are entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176).

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family asks that donations be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, a charity dedicated to finding cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and to improving the lives of children and adults affected by these chronic conditions.
