Obituary of Scott Michael Walker

Scott Michael Walker, 59, of Sussex, NB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 16th, 2018.

Born in Sydney Mines, NS, Scott was the son of George and Geraldine Walker.

Being a good Cape Bretoner Scott loved to recount tales of growing up in Sydney Mines and loved returning to the Island, especially to golf at the Highland Links. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians and even passed on his love of the Toronto Blue Jays to his daughter.

Scott was well known for his gregarious personality and his great sense of humour. His extroversion enabled him to enter a room full of strangers and turn them all into good friends. Scott's kindness and charismatic nature will not soon be forgotten by many.

Scott was a co-founder of Partners in Alternative Learning Strategies (P.A.L.S.) in Sussex and served on numerous community boards including School Districts 2 & 4, Community Youth Services, Sussex Access Center, Sussex Area Community Foundation, and CBDC.

Scott had retired from his employment as a Development Officer with ACOA in June 2017.

Scott will be greatly missed by his parents, wife Sylvia, daughter Jessica, sister Joyce Walker-Haley, her husband Jeff and their children, Erin, Megan and Ian as well as many treasured friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Life will be held at Wallace Community Chapel in Sussex, NB on Saturday October 27th at 1pm. Anyone who wishes to share a few words or a story is encouraged to do so. A funeral service and burial will be held on November 5th at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Parish Church in Sydney Mines, NS.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Scott may be made to the upcoming Movember Challenge Campaign of your choice.
