I was blessed to have grown up around Uncle Jimmy. He was so friendly and was always laughing and smiling. I will never forget Christmases and summers with him, yourself, Tracy and Brad. Ryan and I were always so excited to visit and swim in the pool because Uncle Jimmy would always make us laugh doing something silly. He will be greatly missed.

Mr Coughlan was our grade 7-9 junior high school gym instructor`, and was our first formal sports instructor. I always had great respect for him as he made us move and exercise. I also remember he was responsible to provide the Grade 8 `sex education` class for that bunch of redneck Norton, Apohaqui, Millstream boys who thought they knew everything. Remembering this now, and realizing just how old Mr. Coughlan was at the time. I will refer to him as the bravest man in the world. My condolence to Mr. Coughlans family.

Condolences to the family. Mr. C was my teacher in Norton for 9 years. He spent countless hours volunteering for us in every sport possible. At the time it's not something a child appreciates or even understands. But now I realize all the time he sacrificed from other things he could have been doing, to make our sports teams the best they could be and to have as many of us involved in sports and physical activities as possible to make life better for us. For that I'm forever thankful. He was definitely one of a kind!!!

When I heard of my brothers passing it brought many a tear but also a relief that his suffering was finally over. It has taken a lot of soul searching but I have realized that I have already said goodbye the way I want to remember so I will not travel home for the service. in August I had the chance to visit Jim for 10 days. We talked, we laughed, I helped him navigate the hospital in his electric wheelchair and I know he was happy I was there. When my visit was over I kissed him, hugged him and told him I loved him. that’s the goodbye I want to remember.
Growing up Jim was sometimes my tormentor, sometimes my protector, sometimes my hero and best friend, but always the guy who loved me and understood me. We have always been very close. He had a great love of sports especially Hockey and followed his dream of being a Physed Teacher. He loved his family and friends and was a mentor to many a student over the years. We were very close and with a very heavy heart I say God bless you Jim, I love you and will hold a lifetime of memories in my heart until we meet again.
Margaret, thankyou for always being there for my brother. He loved you very much as he did his children and Grandchildren. Greg and I send you all our love and we hope to see you Marg in Calgary in the near future. RIP Jim.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a generous soul! Jim was my teacher and coach for many years. He taught me more than just how to play sports; he taught me, as well as so many others, the importance of teamwork, pride in our accomplishments, how to get up after being knocked down and to push through, no matter what obstacles or challenges we are faced with. Whenever life has not been kind, my thoughts have often turned to the times when I was playing on one of his teams (volleyball, basketball, soccer, etc.) and the encouraging words he always provided. He gave me confidence and courage and I believe he played such an important role in my life and helped mould me into the person I am today! He will be greatly missed!
