Dear Carol, Shannon and Jamie, Michelle and Andrew, and Darlene and all of your extended Families,
Thinking about you these past days since your Mom's passing and want you to know we send sincere condolences to ALL from Antigonish....where we have many fond memories of your Mom, Carol and Darlene... and although it is many years since we have had our "Girls Game night" together, with your Mom attending when she would be down visiting you, Carol...I will always remember her love and kindness to all us gals, with the presentation of a "beautiful rose" for each of us, as she gave us her welcoming hugs!! There were many tokens of her love from the handmade dish clothes to the Christmas and birthday phone calls.. she was such a warm and loving lady, and I will always treasure those memories ... from our friends in Penobsquis, across the miles to the Nish!! Please know that we will be thinking of you all tomorrow as you say farewell to your loving Mom!
So sorry, Carol, that ongoing health issues do not allow us to attend her visitation and funeral....Stay Strong my friend!
With love and hugs to and your girls, Marguerite and Bill

Carol, Darlene and all the family,
We are thinking of you all and pray for peace and strength as you let your Mom and Gramma go. I can see her and Aunt Glad and Mom greeting one another with hugs and happiness to be together again. She was a very special lady and although I had not seen her in quite a while there are so many memories of years gone by with family all together. I will always cherish those memories. Hold tight to one another and your beautiful memories will make you smile.

I'm sad to hear of Joyce's passing. She was a wonderful person. Kind and loving. She knew what she wanted and got it, stubbornly of course! She would talk of her children late into the night, proud of all of you! It was my pleasure to help take care of her. Sending love to you all at the difficult time.

Our sincerest condolences, from Brian and Cheryl Jones and family, to the family of Aunt Joyce. May God be with you at this time. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones." Psalm 116:15 As we grieve our loss we are reminded that not even the lowliest sparrow falls to the ground without our Heavenly Father noticing it. How much more the death of one of His children. May His peace and presence be with you all at this time.
The last time I saw Aunt Joyce was at a family reunion in Penobsquis. We spoke in the parking lot, sitting in the shade. Talk inevitably revolved around family. Family that had passed, and current goings on with our always extending clan. Sadness and joy intermingled. A snapshot of life. We enjoy the good moments together, or sharing them with others, and we grieve together.
As a young child I remember sitting on the stairs at Grampy McPhee`s birthday party dances, head stuck out between the railings, and watch the beautiful flow of the dancers on the floor. So many family and, of course, the entire neighbourhood. Howe would have been playing with Norvel and the other musicians at the bottom of the stairs. But how Joyce loved to dance. I will always remember her big smile as she stood waiting for the group to come her way and for her and her partner to join in. The joy of all of us on such occasions wasn`t just the food (us kids), or the playing and dancing (the adults), but it was a greater simple joy of just being part of a community, friends, neighbours, and family. Those were simpler times, and Joyce, like us all, loved life in that context of family and community.
Howe and Joyce stood up with Mom and Dad, and vice versa, and they all honeymooned together. Joyce was certainly on cloud nine in the old black and white photos we have of those times. Her and I shared the same birthdate, April 4th, and also shared several phone calls on those days, and even the odd birthday cake swap.
Family reunions were another time when I remember Joyce. Howe was quiet and shy. Joyce wasn`t. Opposite`s attract. Cupid knew what he was doing. She enjoyed being in the midst of family, greeting, sharing stories, introducing the shyer ones, making connections, making sure everyone got their food. Full of life, and enjoying it and the others in her life.
I guess it is inevitable that we all slow down over time, whether we want to face it or not. In God`s plan we, above all creatures, were meant to live forever. Just not in this shell. We have so very much to look forward as we step from time into eternity. One thing I know for sure, as we leave here and arrive, in an instant, in God`s presence, it will be so wonderful. No one could pay us enough to come back. Why would we? There we will behold God, unveiled in all His glory. And there we will be surrounded by family, God`s family, all purchased by the precious blood of Christ. I think Joyce will feel right at home there. Part of that great heavenly host, surrounded by loved ones, full of joy. God bless you any Joyce. Until we meet again...
