Birdie and family, please accept my deepest sympathies in the passing of Hazen. I loved his twinkling eyes when he told me everything was terrible, and I knew that meant it was just fine. He loved to laugh and tease and I always looked forward to serving him or any combination of your delightful family and friends. Sussex will not be the same without Hazen. Birdie, Karen, Susan, Patti, and Heather. I'm saddened at the passing of Hazen, a man I've known and respected since my family moved to Sussex in 1970. Throughout the years I've always enjoyed my conversations with both Hazen and Birdie whenever we would chance to meet. At a restaurant, about the town, it didn't matter where we met, Hazen was always interested in what was new and sometimes offered a tidbit of great advice for one thing or another. I enjoyed my conversations with him immensely an so appreciate that he helped make Sussex one of the great places it is to live. 42 years in, the Rotary continues to perform meaningful and wonderful things in this community and abroad and I have no doubt that many lives have been enriched as a result of his efforts.
I will miss him.
