Obituary of Spurgeon Eddington McLean

Mr. Spurgeon Eddington McLean was born in Sussex on March 19, 1959; he was the son of the late George and Marion (Clowater) McLean.

Spurgeon loved everyone! Even those who he would have had every right to dislike, he would have so lovingly, and willing, welcomed them to his supper table.

He was an encouragement to the downtrodden, a light in dark times. He was a laugh when you felt like crying, and a solid adviser when you were at your wits end. Spurgeon was the rock, the solid foundation for his family and so many friends.

Everyone who knows him, knew that you were only a stranger once, after that you were family.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 41 years, Susan (Kyle) McLean; their children: David McLean and his wife Julie of Brookside. NS, Tammy Mercer and her husband Charles of Mount Hebron and Mark McLean of Roachville; his sister, Zonya Doiron and her husband Maurice of Dieppe; his grandchildren: Bailey, Mia and David McLean, Kayley and Keaton Mercer and Abigail and Alexis McLean; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Spurgeon Eddington McLean of Roachville passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side on March 27, 2019 at the age of 60.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex. Visitation will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church (384 St. George St.) on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 1-3 and 6-8pm.

A Celebration of Spurgeon’s life will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 3:00pm with Pastor Troy Campbell officiating.
