To all of Teeny's wonderful family,
You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve the loss of your dear Teeny and celebrate her amazing life. What an absolutely wonderful, giving woman she was. I feel I should know each and every one of you as she spoke of you often and was so very, very proud of her nieces, nephews and their families. She would often share pictures and stories of vacations, family weddings and events she attended. The family members living locally- how you cared for her and shared your lives with her daily was incredibly special.
There are no words to express the impact she had on so many people over so many years here at Sharp's Drug Store. As a co-worker, a mentor and most of all as a dear, dear friend, she was simply the best. There was no age barrier, she could mix it up with the younger bunch in a heartbeat and have us laughing uncontrollably by times...of course, that would always be followed by a power nap!! Indeed, she was the only woman I know who could sleep standing up!!
What a blessing she was to the many young Pharmacy students and Pharmacists who started their careers here at Sharp's. Many were far, far away from their families ( China, India, Trinidad, England, etc.) and Teeny, along with Ann Carr, Jarvis and Bev would take them under her wing and each of them were made to feel like family. Many became life long friends.
As Rick can attest to, Teeny, Jarvis and Bev were quite the role models for many young people starting their first jobs. The guidance and life skills they instilled in us then have served us well throughout our lives. How fortunate were we to have worked side by side with this trio? Leading by example, without us even realizing it, they instilled in us compassion for patients of every walk of life, and just as important, they taught us the importance of supporting each other, our coworkers.
Between Teeny and Lois there was ne'er a birthday, wedding or baby shower forgotten. Lois's chocolate cake and boiled icing would appear and Teeny would make the tea out back. It was amazing what could be pulled off in the small confines of the old drugstore.
The five McQuinn children were also blessed to have Teeny be a part of our lives growing up. Surely she felt like shooing us out of the store when we would stop in on our way home from school and read the comic books, try the make up, mess up the candy bars, and of course sample the roasted peanuts!.. but...she never did.
There were many a trip to St. Martin's when she would drive Mom and some of us kids out to the cottage while Dad was working. Being little kids, we were simply in awe of how long this woman could keep her eyes closed while driving !! ...and.. stay right- on- the -road- the whole while!! ( I mean driving ones' bicycle with no hands is one thing....but this?...this was incredible!!!) Of course the older we got the more thankful we were that the sleepy slow downs and smooth swerves coincided perfectly with the twists and turns of that old road into St. Martins. Evidently, we loved that place so much, we were willing to risk most anything to get there. Now, the fact that Mom was an adult and actually let us go in the car...proved to us that she and Teeny had an extremely exceptional relationship with God. We always arrived safe and sound. We are so very grateful for the childhood and family memories we shared at her cottage.
It brings a huge smile to my face thinking about more recent years when Teeny and Jane lived across the hall from one another. Jane would often stop into the store to grab them chocolate bars on their way back home from watching the nephews' hockey games. One night was particularly dark and rainy, I know I should have been worried but I was rather speechless and I actually lost it after Jane telling me she took over the wheel for the way home from the rink as she didn't think Teeny should drive after dark ...hmmmm...you can imagine my lips twisting, my head tilting to one side, gazing at Jane....me NOT being convinced that Teeny wasn't the better option...I mean this woman...THIS woman could drive all the way to St. Martins with her eyes closed most of the way!! you understand...I had witnessed it! Somehow, those two...they always made it , and didn't they, and Carol, share so many, many good times together?
God Bless you Teeny, rest in peace. Thank you God for sharing her with us. I am thankful to have had her as a friend but I am even more thankful for the wonderful friendship she shared with my Mom and Dad, and the support she was for Dad and Bev at the drug store. Until we meet again.
Margaret

We are so sad that we won't be able to attend the service. Teeny was such a special person. I will miss her laugh and her ability to not take things so seriously. I have so many happy memories of spending summers with her in Saint Martins. They were trully some of the happiest times in my life. Our visits to the Maritimes will not be the same without her there.
