It is with profound sadness that I learned of Arthur's passing.
Having lived on Floral Avenue in my younger days, as did Art, we spend considerable time together constructing balsa wood planes, and many other items.
I will always have vivid memories of journeys with Art and his lovely & kind Mother to Hwy. 9, to harvest ferns for their floral shop arrangements.
Art was an intelligent, caring, friendly & decent human being, and a very athletic person. After graduating he became involved in the family business, as well as the town's politics as Mayor, and he also spent considerable time on the Regional Hospital Board with my Mother. When she contracted cancer he was most helpful and gracious, and insisted on the best care for her, and comforted her until her death in 1980. He established a palliative care accommodation, due to her long & outstanding service as President. I will be forever grateful to Art for going above & beyond with the love, care and comfort that he provided to my Mother in her last years.
Art was one of the original five to start Grande One in 1939, with Gerry Taylor and myself, the only two male starters remaining from the 1950 graduating class.
It was my extremely good fortune to have had Art's friendship for over 80 years, and I am certain his good deeds and concerns for others have earned him the eternal rest and peace he deserves.
He will be remembered fondly for his excellent work and compassion, but most of all as an honest and decent human, who loved life and people.
